As we work with live animals, there is always a degree of unpredictability and inherent risk involved in grooming services. We are committed to creating a calm, caring environment and will always handle your pet with the utmost professionalism and compassion.

Health & Safety Disclaimer
While we take every possible precaution to keep your cat safe, grooming involves tools, equipment, and techniques that can carry a risk of injury—especially in cases involving matted fur, sensitive skin, or behavioral challenges.

Severely Matted Coat Policy

At Bellevue Grooming, our goal is always to prioritize your cat’s comfort, safety, and overall well-being. Severe matting can cause a range of health and grooming complications, and we want to ensure pet parents fully understand the potential risks and procedures involved.

Understanding the Risks
Matted fur can tug painfully on the skin, restrict movement, trap moisture and debris, and hide skin irritations, infections, or even parasites. During grooming, removing mats—particularly severe ones—may lead to:

• Skin irritation or redness
• Nicks or abrasions due to compromised skin integrity
• Uneven coat appearance post-dematting or shaving
• Exposure of previously hidden conditions like hot spots, bruising, or fungal infections

Our Approach
We will assess your cat’s coat prior to grooming and discuss the best course of action with you. In cases of extreme matting, humane shaving or spot removal may be necessary to relieve your cat from pain or discomfort. Rest assured, our experienced groomers use the gentlest techniques possible and prioritize safety above aesthetics.

Client Acknowledgement
By bringing in a severely matted pet, clients acknowledge the potential risks involved and understand that Bellevue Grooming will not be held responsible for pre-existing conditions or complications that may arise as a result of the mat removal process.

Your cat’s comfort comes first—and we will always recommend what’s in their best interest, even if that means a shorter haircut today in favor of long-term coat health tomorrow.

Customized Care & Pricing
Each grooming session is tailored to the unique needs of your pet. Pricing may vary depending on your cat’s coat condition, temperament, and any special accommodations required. No two pets are alike—and neither are any two grooming visits.

Injury Policy
Should your pet experience an injury during grooming, we will assess the situation on a case-by-case basis and may offer compensation depending on the circumstances. To be eligible for any form of reimbursement, clients must notify us within 48 hours of the appointment and provide:

• A veterinary invoice
• Contact information for the treating clinic
• A description of the incident and outcome

Disclosure of Health & Behavioral Needs
We rely on pet parents to inform us of any known medical conditions, sensitivities, behavioral tendencies, or special care requirements in advance. Failure to communicate such details may impact the outcome of the grooming service. We cannot be held responsible for challenges or complications resulting from undisclosed issues.  At Bellevue Grooming, we believe in honest communication, compassionate care, and building trust with every client and their feline companion.
